The word “Occult” Originated from the Latin, and its meaning is hidden, secret or surreptitious. Just like all the skull accessories which have a hidden meaning, occult refers to unknown and hidden knowledge. In its common usage, occultism is related to the knowledge of supernatural phenomena and the study of higher spiritual reality beyond logic or pure reason. Therefore, occult symbols and meanings are opposite to science, which is a quantifiable knowledge.
Several religions and sects such as Wiccans and NeoPagans accept mysticism (the study of mystery practice) as part of the mystical religious experience. These practices include magic, astrology, alchemy, divination, spiritualism, supersensory perception, and more.
At the same time, many other religions do not approve of mysticism and associate it with supernatural phenomena. Many mainstream religions include certain mysterious practices that are described as more profound.
The majority of Christians believe that the mysterious influences are heretical and resist them, and are regarded as justice by some esoteric branches of Christianity through divination and seeking the blessing or intervention of angels.
