Dia de Los Muertos (Day of Death) is a festival celebrated in Mexico and other regions (Brazil, Spain, and parts of Europe) to commemorate the deceased.

Every year from November 1st to 2nd, the family gathers to eat, drink, dance and share memories around the graves of their deceased relatives. The family decorates the tombs with flowers and offerings, as well as parades, booths, and public services.

People wear sugar skull hoodie dresses, skull hoodies, gothic clothing,  sugar skull shoes, and decorate themselves using skull accessories. There is even a tradition of writing special poems (called Caravelas) in memory of the loved ones.

Day of the Dead purses and other accessories

The skull (Calavera) is a symbol of Dia de Los Muertos, and the skull occupies a prominent position in festival decorations, food, and skull clothing. Skull masks, candy, biscuits, and toys are all white, decorated with flowers, swirls, dots, and geometric patterns.

It is not surprising that Dia de Los Muertos is adopted by Gothic subcultures. This festival takes place immediately after Halloween. Its theme is to celebrate the lives of those people in the past, resonating with Gothic and alternative subcultures.

Sugar skull purses are a popular feature of Gothic clothing and accessories.

The Dia de Los Muertos handbag or purse is a perfect accessory that adds a final touch to the Gothic or rustic wardrobe. The sugar skull fabric pattern is whimsical and Gothic.

The Day of the Dead purses often use flowers or other elements to further add femininity.
